LOCAL LAW 11/98
New York City Local Law 10 of 1980” was enacted shortly after a piece of masonry fell from the façade of a building on Manhattan’s upper west side, killing a pedestrian. Local Law 11 Inspection of 1998 modified Local Law 10 by broadening the scope of required façade inspections and imposing more stringent requirements for repair of deteriorated conditions.
Local Law 11 has since been referred to as Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP). The intent is to make New York City building and streets safer. The law has been modified over the years; most recently to include the inspection of balcony railings, handrails and guardrails. This was in response to a fall fatality related to a deficient balcony railing.
A report based on this periodic “critical examination” must be filed by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect with the Department of Buildings. Minhas Construction will work directly with your architect or engineer to locate problems and make cost-conscious repairs to be in full compliance with the strictest interpretation of New York City’s Local Law 11.
We have on staff licensed riggers to file all jobs and work closely with the NYC Building Department. Minhas Construction provides constant monitoring for proper safety guidelines as required by law.
